Thursday 28th Feb

Not much to report about the last few days. Monday was good as i went for a wander in the morning and found a Subway!!!! Brilliant no noodles for me at lunchtime! So i went inside and ordered myself a foot long! Yum!!! Got talking to an English guy while in there who was also fed up of noodlels and wanted soemthing a bit more english! Turned out he was staying at the same hotel and travelling back hopme that evening. He had coem with his brother and seeing as i wasn't really sure how to get back to the hotel he offered to show me. We then both said see you later and an hour or so later he turned up at the pool so we had a good natter about backhome and places to go in Thailand. He had just been to Auz and also around all the Islands so i got soem names of places to stay which was cool. His brother turned up then and it started to rain!! They were going to "Siam City" which is a large shopping centre and asked if i wanted to join them so i did. Sounds a bit strange but although it supposed to be really safe out here i don't really like getting into Cabs on my own. Soem of the taxi drivers have been a bit dodgy so i'm trying to do things either in organised groups or with people to be safe. Maybe i'm just being paranboide but its how i feel!

So we got to this Siam City and went into one shopping centre much like those in the UK, loads of shops and restaurants, however this one was quite pricey for Thailand so we left and went to o\another one which i can't remeber the name of.... anyway! It was crazy, stall after stall after stall, unfortuntalely i didn't have my camera coz i'm not sure i can do it justice. Its a maze of shops with everything you can imagine! Apparentl;y over 2000 different stalls. They have designer jeans, watches, bags, phones, Ipods, restaurants, its crazy! I recommend anyone gets a cheap flight out here and comes with am empty suitcase, its soo cheap. And fake obviously but hey, who cares!!??

So anyway i got a new watch - an Omega i have had my eye on in Selfridges for ages i just was never going to pay the 950 quid price tag!! Well i now have one for 15 quid! Bargain! So after that crazy experience we left and went back to the hotel. I arranged to meet them later for dinner and we went to a little street seller just around the corner who was recommended to us and went for a beer. They then got on thier coach to the airport and i went back to my room as i had to be up at 7.00am for a trip.

To give you the short version i didn't make the trip as i got either food poisoning or travellers tummy! I have no idea which i opnly know i was on the loo for the entire night and the majority of the following day. I only popped out for soem more water and to update my new Thai sim with some money! Not impressed! But hey what can you do, these things happen!!

So to be safe that evening i went to Mc Donalds and got a Cheese Burger and chips!!!! Still felt a bit rough but thank god for immodium and those salt things that mke you feel right again!! One other thing i did was i sent back a package to you Ma and Pa, brought a few bits and realised they weren't going to fit anywhere so they are hopefully on thier way to you, they say it will take 1-2 weeks so fingers crossed! Oh and i also got a load of movies on my Ipod - the guys i met told me about it and bascially you pay to get movies and al;bums put onto your Ipod for you. Brilliant! I managed to put a few on before i went but they had season 2 of Heros! Oh yeah baby! I was naughty and started to watch them last night - i nearly didn't go out for dinner!

Wednesday i still felt a bit fragile and so took it easy in my room and went to get a Thai massage which was heavenly! Well i say that now coz i felt very relaxed afterwards but it is such a strange thing, for starters you keep all your clothes on, which i didn't know!! Nealry took my top off but was saved by another woman having one! Could have been dodgy! They click your bones and stretch you this way and that. At one point i was lying down and she had her leg under mine and was pushing my leg away and pulling it back with her hands - very difficult to describe and even more difficult to enjoy!!! And my god have they got the bonyest fingers and elbows! You thought mine were bad, not even close! Overall it was good but if you have a weak disposition then don't have one - i think they may actually enjoy the pain!! Saying that i'll probably go back for another one! He he! It Sent me back to my room and back to Sleep!

I then went for dinner, having not met any friends. (People around the pool are not that freindly at this hotel, which is a bit rude but hey, i don't really mind!) I went to this Jewish place which was in my guide book, i only went coz i fancied Pitta and Hummous and when i got there i felt VERY out of place and they didn't have hummous!! Ahhhhhh! So i had a chicken shish kebab which wasn't exactly nice but by that point i didn't want to walk out. It wasn't until i had sat down that i realised that i had actually asked someone who was simply eating here if i could sit down not a waiter! How embarrassing! How am i supposed to know tho? He had a little hat on(can't remeber the proper name - very sorry if i offend anyone!) and he was talking to his friend who looked like a Rabbi with a beard and a long black outfit on. Turns out all the waiters are Thai! What a donut!

After dinner i was going to go for a drink soemwhere and was just about to sit down at one of the roadside places where i had spotted with my eagle eye another girl sat on her own. Unfortunately the drunken English larger louts had found themselves a little too drunk and had decided to have a fight and show each other who is more matcho! Don't you just love being English when that happens?? So anway after about 10 mins the police were called as more and more people got involved so i decided to cut my losses and go back to Heros where i knew i wasn't going to get a drink spilled over me or get caught in the crossfire!

So this morning got up as usual for brekkie - had cornflakes today with warm milk - i don't recommend it at all and tomorrow i will go back to my staple of toast and strawberry jam! I'm soo English! There wasn't anywhere to sit at breakfast so i asked to sit with two guys who were sitting with a space opposite them both. ONe turned out to be English the other French with really bad English! Needless to say i eat my cornflakes as quickly as possible. The English Man is apparently out here on business and he spoke in the poshes voice i have ever heard! Funny coz some of the English i have met have called me Posh! Ha bloody Ha! Anyway after breakfast i go to the pool (its still not sunny!!) but am trying to meet people! Anyway the now re-named Weirdo English man comes and sits next to me and wants to chat! Seriously your wierd! So anyway i left the pool for a bit as he gave me the creeps and then came back at lunchtime thinking i had got rid of him but no he bloody turns up again and the sunlounger next to me is free and he starts telling me about how he is really important in England - what a wierdo! So hence me coming into the Internet Cafe to write an essay and try to avoid the wierdo man!

Think i'm going to book the trip that i missed on Tuesday again for tomorrow in a minute and try not to eat anything even slightly suspect tonight. Maybe i'll just eat another of those lovely banana pancakes wtih chocolate - yum!

Anyway this is me signing off for another few days, got some friends coming at the weekend. Marrianna and her boyfriend Kurt and Peter who i used to work with and his girlfriend Rhianna so i'm looking forward to seeing them and visiting soem places with them.

On Monday 3rd March i'm off up North to Chang Mai, i've booked a 3 day cooking course a 3 day trek and 1 day White water rafting!! All through the same place, Eagle House - i have been emailing them to arrange everything and they seem really lovely. At the moment they don't have anyone else booked in for the 3 day treck so it may just be me with two guides! HOw cool would that be my own private tour!

Oh and i haven't forgotten thet you want my itinary Lou - i'll do that separately in a min.

Hope everyone is ok in the UK and safe in the knowledge that its raining here too, its just a lot hotter which is good for me!

Bangkok Part 2 Sun 24th Feb

So the next installment begins! Am currently uploading my photos to Snapfish as they didn't want to onto Facebook - i don't know why! Will try to upload some onto here but i can't promise anything, oh how i miss the days of IT being around to fix everything!!

Can't really remeber where i left off so sorry if i repeat myself! After the Internet Cafe yesterday i went to the pool coz my room was being cleaned and i wasn't really sure what else to do!! So spent the day trying (and failing) to get a tan and meeting people around the pool. Realised very quickly that this hotel was not really one where backpackers come, a little too upmarket I think! Anyway met soem Americans, Kerrr and Anne from West Virginia who were studying in Hong Kong so came over for a holiday - Makes Brighton look a bit dim!! They have offered me soemwhere to stay if i get that far in America! Always good!

Then i met Ghislaine a utter from Bethnal Green - such a laugh we got on really well and arrnaged to go for a massage later in the day, unfortuntely she was leaving on the night bus that evenng but we swapped emails and numbers and if i get to the Islands before she has left we are going to meet up. Also met a girl called Izzy from Windsor - just around the corner, knew Sunningdale very well as her mate who she is on holiday with lives there - Mummy and Daddy must have a few pennies!

After getting my amazing tan! Huh! i met Ghislaine and we went for a massage which cost... 4 quid!! Lasted and hour and was heaven! Can't be bad! Can't wait for my next one! So i sent her off on the bus and went to find soem new lodgings. Just along the Kho San Road was a place called D&D Inn and they had a room so i booked in there for Sunday night.

Later in the evening I had arranged to meet up with Zoe and go to Phat Pong district! When i told Izzy that was the plan she wanted to come so we met up, grabbed some noodles before we went and found a Taxi. This short, fat, sweaty and smelly driver told us it was closed but he knew of a place that was open! Ha bloody Ha, we had all ready the guide book about the scams and immediately got out and found another. I'm getting quite good at bahtering now, i think i'm actually getting a bit mean! Must remember that 10bht is 16p! Its just difficult when everyhting is so cheap and you know they are trying to take you for a ride!!

So anyway got out of the cab and walked straight into a market of fakes; T-shirts, trainers, tiffanys, bags, purses everyhting you could pretty much think of was there but fake! It was my idea of heaven but likily we got dragged into a bar before i could buy anything. WELL! We walked in to this club and looked up and infront of us was a stage with poles around it and women with no clothes on, nothing on! I really didn't know where to look!! They did soem very clever things with their umm, naughty bits (Sorry everyone but my Mum and Dad are reading this!! Love you guys!xx) We had candles being put out, bottles being opened, firec crackers being let off, flowers! It really was an education to say the least!!!

So anyway after about three quarters of an hour we had had enough and really didn't want the girls staring at us ay more it really was awkward! So we left and looked around the market. Lucikly i didn't have much money on me so we just had to come home!!! I will be going back for definate, although i think i shall forego the bar!

So this morning i got up about 8.30 and went to get some breakfast, i really do not understand the whole noodles in the morning thing! Yuck yuck! Anyway had breakky and checked out, after not being able to fit anything back into my rucksac - seriously it was not good! Dad i need you to be here to pack it everytime! Apparently i'll get better, Yeah i can see that happening! Went off to meet Zoe for our trip to the Grand Palace. Zoe hadn't been well in the night and hadn't had any breakfast so we decided to go for a cuppa and then be on our way. Well poor Zoe had about two mouthfuls of Crossaint and was sick everywhere. NOw as some of you know i do not have a strong stomach and so i struggled to help her and not be sick myself! What a bloody nightmare!! Anyway i mopped her up and took her to the loos where she was sick again, i had to take a step back, infact its making me feel a bit queezy thinking about it!

So she said she still wanted to go so we got a Tuc Tuc - incase she needed to be sick!!! Yes Nish a tuc tuc! I rode the real thing OH yeah!!So we got to the Grand Palace and set ourselves up with a guide who was lovely - Jackie. She told us where to stand fpr the best photo. shouted at people when they got in the way of our photo, gave us regular stops and water. Everywhere should have a Jackie! The Palace was amzing - me being the snapper that i am took loads of photos or "click click" as Jackie was saying all day!

After the palace she asked where we were going, we had no idea so she suggested the river and took us there as it was her lunch break. On our way there she brought us water - filled up my Camelback bladder (The most brilliant thing ever!!) brough us fried banana from the side street, got us these flannel things to cool us down, she was then going to get some strawberries but i said no it was too much. So we went through a load of back streets. I must admit at one point i was a bit worried but i had my stanley knife at the ready to stab as twist as you taught me Salter!! (Does more damage incase you didn't know!) But we got to the Jetty and paid 1600 btht which is less then 20quid and it was just me and Zoe in a longboat, they gave us bread and we were on our way. We went to the Canal barges temple, we fed Cat fish in the river, went to the floating market (although most of it had gone as we were late) and then were dropped off at the recling Buddah. Which we didn't end up going in but i am going to do another day. So it was a lovely day all in all.

I then went back for my rucksac ad walked the streets to get to my new home - i met soem fellow girls struggling with backpacks along the way and we all moaned about them being heavy!! Such Girls! The new place is interesting - i will definately be using my sleep bag liner to sleep in and its very different to my previous lodgings but i'm working down slowly! It still has a pool which is the main thing!

Anyway my phtotos have finished loading now so i am going to go back to the hotel and chill out, maybe watch something on my Ipod as i'm tired!

Probably wont be such a long installment next time but seeing as its only cost me 80p i don't think i'll worry too much!

Love to all xx

Arrived in Bangkok

Ok so literally just wrote an essay and the PC crashed so i lost it all! Going to have to write a smaller one otherwise i would have spent all day in the internet cafe! Not good for my first day!

Flight was a nightmare, the plane was delayed in the air the turbulance was horrendous and i was nearly sick! Luckily i was sat next to two really nice girls, Jo and Gemma who looked after me!! Well told me to breathe deeply anyway! Luckily it worked, it would not have been nice to have been sick! Anyway started to talking to them about what they were doing and they are doing the same route as me, but only taking 3 months to do it! Seems like a much better plan to me right now!! Ok so i am just being a wimp!

Managed to grab a lift with them on thier transfer for 400bht which is better than the minimum 500bht i would have had to pay for a taxi and i got company for free!Although there was another incident when i thought i was going to be sick, think i may have to buy some travel sickness pills!

So anyway we dropped them off at thier hotel and then drove onto another hotel where two other girls were staying- luckily just around the corner from my hotel and i arranged to meet them for dinner in an hour. Walked around the hustle and bustle and found soemwhere we all felt looked ok, a few westerners eating and a few thai. i ordered beef in soy sauce - a safe bet and it was lovely (i was starving!) with a bottle of water it cost just 1.50 in pounds! Better than some meals i have had which cost about 5 times that!

Am meeting up with one of those same girls tonight - Zoe a window dresser from Bedford on a holiday doing a three week tour which starts tomorrow. Think we are going to go to the "naughty" area as we are together and see what we think - if we are brave we will go in and see a show but who knows!!

Just quickly my hotel is ok, had a nice breakfast. The pillow was hard and massive (no rude comment needed) so i rolled up a towell and used that so slept ok but not great! Am going to go back in a min and change into soemthing a bit lighter as i'm baking in my linen trousers!

Love to all
